  3. Dear Bible Student-
  4.  
  5. These files are Amiga translations of a Public Domain King James
  6. Bible,
  7. originally available on the Commodore 64. (The original was
  8. compiled
  9. by Randall J. Bernard and a team of volunteer typists.) It was
  10. ported
  11. over and converted from PETSCII to standard ASCII using version
  12. 2.0
  13. of ReadySoft's C64 Emulator.
  14.  
  15. The entire Bible fits on four Amiga disks as ARC files. Each disk
  16. contains
  17. two ARC files, each of which unARCs to fill a single Amiga disk,
  18. so the
  19. entire Bible unARCed fills eight Amiga disks. The files have been
  20. split to
  21. keep whole books together for study purposes, so some disks will
  22. be fuller
  23. than others. The last disk will be only 34% full, leaving plenty
  24. of room
  25. for any indexes or study programs you may want to add.

  27. TO UNARC ON A DUAL DRIVE SYSTEM:

  29. Place a formatted disk in drive df1: and the ARC disk in df0:, and type
  30. UNARC df0:filename df1: for the first filename. Do the same with a second
  31. disk in drive df1: for the second filename. Remember, each ARC disk unarcs
  32. to TWO disks full of files!

  34. TO UNARC ON A SINGLE DRIVE ONE MEG SYSTEM:

  36. This method should work, though I havn't tried it. COPY one of the ARC
  37. files to RAM:, then UNARC to a fresh formatted disk in df0: Delete the ARC
  38. file in RAM:, and repeat the process for the second ARC file.

  40. ORGANIZATION
  41.  
  42. Each book is divided into separate files for each chapter. Each verse is
  43. preceded by the book name, chapter, and verse number, and is followed by a
  44. carriage return. It should be easy to write programs to search through
  45. these files. If you'd like to modify the format, just use any Amiga
  46. wordprocessor or text editor. These are standard Amiga ASCII files.
